For the first time in California history, cities and counties soon may have the state's blessing to impose their own income tax.

Worker wages currently can be taxed only by the state and federal governments, but legislation to expand that concept cleared a major hurdle this week.

AB 1690

How much is enough?

Assemblyman Mark Leno, the San Francisco Democrat who proposed AB 1690, said the legislation simply extends the notion of local control. Leno sure did a bang-up job in SF before heading to Stinkymento.

Once again the Rats are going after the poor and middle clas -- mostly middle class.

Rich people who own several homes will simply declare residence in the locality without the income tax. Poor people who live in rentals and apartments will easily relocate where theer is no income tax.

Middle class people like me and my family who can't up and sell our homes frequently and on short notice are the ones who will pay these taxes.

Can you imagine how this would turn the real estate market up on its ear?

We have got to get some Republicans in there, enough to stop the Democrats and a Republican governor who can veto this insanity. California turning from the "Golden State" to "Tax-i-fornia".

"Would someone pick up and move out of San Francisco to save $70? Unimaginable," he said.

Today $70, tomorrow $7000. I would like to have my own proposal:

Everyone except politicans get a 20% tax rate reduction. To politicans, once you vote in favor of any tax increase, your incomes (all of it) is taxed at 100%.

Californians deserve this for electing only Democrats.

I would love it if the Republican Senate Minority Leader would say this is what happens when the Democrats run the whole state.

If local governments adopted the maximum possible tax, Californians earning less than $100,000 per year would pay about $70 annually, Leno said.

Yeah, sure, in the first two years.

I mean, holy cr@p!! 9.5% top bracket isn't enough for them, they want to add another tax and here in Silicon Valley, bump the sales tax to the highest in the nation? Geez! Florida, New Hampshire, and Nevada are looking better and better all the time.

If it passes, I see an immediate suit to obtain a Stay of Execution pending a referendum.

If Prop 13 won big...
I see the defeat of this proposal as a lot bigger.

"Quit stealing the people's money," said Assemblyman Jay La Suer, R-La Mesa. "Just because you don't use a gun, you use the law, doesn't mean you're not a thief."

Give that man your support!

How much is enough?

To a lib it's infinite.

Websters definition of Infinity: Unlimited extent of space, time, or quantity; of great number or quantity.

Infinity..what a perfect name for the new Democratic party!

Good!

Nothing will wake up the moderates anymore than another socialist rat proposal to kill or wound Prop 13.

Any so called repubie voting for this bill had best be ready to go over to the dark side!

The only way the socialist/progressives/communists can balance a budget is to increase our taxes to meet their increase in left wing spending.

Bring it on you frigging thieves. We beat you decades ago with Prop 13, and we will hammer you now with Prop 13.

I guess you haven't heard that they also want to create new income tax brackets at 10% and 11%? Sacramento is out of control.

Cities could impose a tax of up to 8 percent, and counties up to 2 percent, of the amount an individual owes in state income taxes.
If local governments adopted the maximum possible tax, Californians earning less than $100,000 per year would pay about $70 annually, Leno said.

This is pure BS. I'm single, earn just under $100K and pay almost $5000 in CA income taxes. 10% of that is another $500, not $70!!

The bill is the brainchild of California Professional Firefighters, and it requires that public safety services be enhanced in any city or county imposing such a tax.

I have 3 questions for our local firefighters:

1. Do you belong to the California Professional Firefighter?
2. Are you aware of what they did on your behalf?>br> 3. Do you support it?

My next task is to organize opposition to every local proposal which even remotely benefits these "professional" firefighters.
They are already on my s***list for the endless stream of telephone calls for donations on their behalf, of which they get all of 5% !!
