My wife just informed me that, according to a radio announcer, much of the increase in unemployment claims was from immigrants filling for assistance.CAN THAT BE SO ?

I have to wonder about all the people who claim that immigration is driving our economy.
If unrestricted immigration fueled the '90's as the pro-illegal alien supporters tell us, with every increasing numbers of criminal aliens, shouldn't the economy expand forever?
Clearly, there are other factors that contribute to a strong economy and immigration advocates can not make the claim that unrestricted immigration fuels growth while ignoring a slowing economy. Every day there are more criminal aliens in this country and the economy is not recovering.

Wasn't the election of Fox supposed to revitalize Mexico both socially and economically?
The problem is not our border, per say. The problem lies in the countries whose social and economic problems can only be solved by forcing their surplus population into the United States.
Until Mexico and Latin Amrican nations clean up their acts, (such as stopping their belief in socialist utopias), the torrent will inundate us.

Have a similar solution - dig a moat, build fence in middle of moat, fill moat with water, electrify fence.
The blase', cavalier attitude toward the seive-like borders (Canada's, too) taken by both parties is a recipe for disaster. Makes me heartsick - NOTHING IS BEING DONE!! Doesn't anyone out there realize that if illegals from Mexico can slip across the border so can terrorists. I don't know how much longer this can go on without something frightening happening.

Doesn't anyone out there realize that if illegals from Mexico can slip across the border so can terrorists. They know all about it. It's just that cheap labor trumps the rare possibilities of terrorist attacks.
As long as people maintain that immigration drives our economy, there will be little incentive for change.

The INS noted that, during the same decade, the numbers nationwide went from 2.5 million to 7 million illegal immigrants. The real number is closer to 10 million.

"Illegal immigrant population doubled in NJ during '90s." Doubled! In the most densely populated state in the nation, the number of illegal immigrants had gone from 95,000 to 221,000 between 1990 and 2000. The Immigration and Naturalization Service provided the statistics. How can this be? I thought all the illegal aliens were in the southwest?

Shutdown the southern border for 10 years. I mean shut it down. No one and nothing gets in or out. Round up all the illegals and deport them.
Okay, I'll stop dreaming now.
Too many people think the Bill of Rights applies to everyone. WRONG. The Bill of Rights applies to US citizens ONLY.

As long as people maintain that immigration drives our economy, there will be little incentive for change. No wonder those people want more illegal immigration ---the economy isn't in too great a shape --- at least not in California and Texas ---those people must believe more illegals are needed and then the budgets will be balanced.

Well, yeah, he is revitalizing Mexico, at our expense. Send your people here instead of making life better for them. Have them here illegally sending money back home and robbing our tax payers, straining our systems. It's a win-win for Fox.

Sorry, but the two party cartel in DC has no intention of securing our borders and protecting our sovereignty. They have an agenda, be it money, or votes. It doesn't matter a wit what you or the American people want. By their actions, our elected leaders have told us to go to h*ll.
To: Joe Hadenuf
I fear I have to agree with you Joe. And by not securing our borders they will bring the USA to it's knees.
Only thing to do is trust in the Lord, stockpile food, water, and other 'survival gear', watch, vote, and pray.
With the Patriot Act and our governments knee-jerk reaction to 9/11/01 we're headed into some very dark days.
Freedom is under attack from the inside and the outside.

Too many people think the Bill of Rights applies to everyone. WRONG. The Bill of Rights applies to US citizens ONLY. No! The Bill of Rights applies to the U.S. Government, It was designed to restrict the government from interfearing in our lives. Through that restriction it supposedly protects U.S. Citizens. The Bill of Rights is ignored by the government because we don't understand the purpose of the Bill of Rights, until a majority of the people understand, it will continue to be ignored.

As long as people maintain that immigration drives our economy, there will be little incentive for change.Yep, the consensus seems to be that we need more low wage earners to buy the cheap goods imported from China which are manufactured by even lower wage earners. As I see it, it has become our duty to provide the consumers for Chinese goods by allowing mass illegal immigration and providing low paying manual labor jobs.

That number is a vast understatement. The 2000 census in NJ was a joke as far as the illegal population. They just claimed 'legality' or failed to comply altogether. I suggest there are that many illegals in Hudson, Essex and Bergen county alone. I lived there...
