Commissioner Patten's response is that he needs an investigation of PA abuse of his funds "like I need a hole in the head."

Why don't you go to Ramallah and suggest to Arafat that he disband his military forces, and see how far that gets you.

Then, visit Hamas and suggest the same.

That the Palestinians shouldn't have a military force? Is this what you mean? Every Muslim Arab nation has armies and weapons and they love them. Impoverished Syria and Egypt have a huge armies. Islam is an aggressive religion from the get go. Mohamed engaged in many battles. No Muslim nation or state will agree to be unarmed, without a military. Just won't happen. Or if the Palestinians agree to it they will violate this stipulation as soon as they can.

Just because the nations of Europe disarm themselves doesn't mean Muslims will be reasonable and do the same.

During Oslo era the Palestinians were allowed a police force which immediately became much larger than authorized and became an army of sorts. They'll do the same this time around
