No, it's a fact. The Dems won't let the GOP win this recall scheme. They can checkmate us on every possible move.

I'm intrigued about Larry Elder.
Is he really considering a run?

I don't know, but I am aware of some good folks working hard to gather petitions that think they may be able to persuade him if they get a big stack !

GO TOM MCCLINTOCK!

I'm sure he'd be preferrable. Unfortunately, he won't have a chance against Conan The Republican.

I don't know about his policies, but he's good looking, certainly telegenic and personable, black - so it would make the Dems look really bad if they tried to demonize him, and with his radio experience he's not afraid of conflict and debate.

The recall may seem like a free for all but after Davis, can we really do much worse?

Wouldn't it be weird to have two Governors from the movie 'Predator'?

You keep besmerching and mispelling Arnold Schwarzenegger's first name. If you don't know his political positions, you shouldn't put him down.

You know realistically, the State of California is not going to go from a avowed SOCIALIST like Gray Davis to somone like Tom McClintock and yet you persist in that vein. I have to wonder why. Realistically, a Republican like Arnold Schwarzenegger could very well win California. You know that. I know that and I'd wager most readers of this thread know that.

It means he will enact the biggest spending cuts in US history.

One helluva promise. Do you know this man personally?

Believe me Arnold, nobody can be worse than Grey Davis. I think your chances are pretty good that CA needs you. Hell, they need anybody.

This is no time for a RINO, this is the time for a fire breathing Fiscal Conservative.

A fire breathing fiscal conservative would be nice, after we throw out all the other liberal morons in CA.

Gov. Dianne Feinstein, Sen. Gray Davis. That's what this recall will give us.

Is that so bad? Gray Davis can be defeated in 2006 and we'll have one or two GOP senators from Kalifornia, and Feinstein would have to deal with the crappy situation the state's in now.

Well, it was a classic action flick.

I think the exchange with the reporter went something like this:

R: Some have suggested that you might run for governor of California, but you don't have to do this. You don't want to do this.

Arnold: Desire...is...irrelevant. I am...a machine.

I think Arnold would make a fantastic Governor. He uses wise business philosophies and has accumulated much wealth from his real estate investments. He is determined and has a proven track record of entering any very competitive arena and becoming a far greater success than anyone would give him credit. He is intelligent, witty and a charismatic speaker.

I do not believe the rumors of him being a womanizer, in fact all you see in his eyes is tremendous love and admiration for his wife and children and that is what he talks about often. Who wouldn't, look at Maria... all you could ever dream about in a women. She is as hard working and as intelligent as Arnold as well as being charming and beautiful. So what she is a Kennedy, I was raised in a Democrat family and I scream Republican values louder than many Republicans.

I also do not believe he is half hearted about running for Governor, he is probably just conscious of not dividing the Party. He has the name recognition and is very well respected in many sectors of the community. A great family man, a great role model, an American success story... If he ran CA like he runs his life it is bound to be a success. I hope he run's.

And he knows all about competition from his Mr. Universe film, is able to deal with a corrupt governmental structure as evidenced by his overthrowing of the evil Royaly in 'Conan the Barbarian..'

Has it come to this?

We should elect people with names we recognize from movie screens versus people who are well qualified to lead, know the issues intimately and don't rely on attack dogs to keep the masses in line?

Arnold is no more qualified to lead this state then he is to lead a Reform Hollyweed movement.

If his name is his main claim to the Gub's office, then count me out.

I support McClintock , I did support Simon, but I will not support a RINO, especially one who is married to one of the most liebral families of American "royalty", the Kennedys.

The greatness of FR is the diverseness of opinions one will see expressed here. Most of them posted with much conviction and forethought.

But the weakness of this forum is that disruptive influences post here as well and I see them on this thread. They are relentless in their attack and advancing their agendas and their goals.

They are successful by lying and splitting consensus to meet their needs.

They have been on the forefront of pushing for the surrender of California and this nation to the fanciful pursuit of socialism at any cost.

To now expect a lukewarm actor ( who is no Ronald Reagan, btw ) to now be offered as the solution is to me, ludicrous.

Arnold knows what is best for his family but I doubt he can divine the same for this state at this juncture.

In order to defeat Davis and his cohorts in a recall and future elections, we need a veteran warrior of the campaign trail and one who knows intimately how this state's govt works now and needs to work in the future if we have any hope to save this state from its ultimate scuttling and destruction. Tom is the man.

All the rest of this party splitting and pushing multiple candidates only increases the shrinking odds that their is hope to turn this mess around.

I don't feel like gambling myself. Do you?

If I were to guess, I would expect Arnold to not CUT, but rigidly hold spending constant, perhaps cut taxes or fees, but more important try to rebuild CA business through both his personality and business-friendly policies. That alone would go a long way toward restoring CA to fiscal sanity.

Honestly, there aren't 10 pols in the country who would cut a budget in a FRIENDLY state, let alone a LIBERAL one.
