Supporters of state Sen. Robert J. Martin, R-Morris Plains, recognized the contentiousness of his race against challenger Jay Webber and funneled more than $27,000 to the incumbent in the week leading up to Tuesday's primary election.

By the time polls had closed, Martin - a member of the Legislature since January 1985 - had bested Webber by 1,800 votes for a 57 percent to 43 percent margin of victory.

Webber's show against incumbent political liberal apparatchnik Martin was impressive. Its truly incredible that this manipulative, "independent" Republican, beloved by the Democrats for his frequent breaking from mainstream Republican votes on wide spectrum of issues, was supported by his feckless collegues, many of whom are so ideologically different from this guy.

Hopefully, Webber will be back again in four years and will be more succcessful in flushing this RINO from office, before Educator-Attorney Martin succeeds in oozing his unctuous path to his goal of a state judgeship, or even, God forbid, a federal one. Since he has supported Debroah Poritz and her leftists, legislating from the bench New Jersey State Supreme Court, we KNOW where Mr. Martin will be on ANY issues which come before him on the bench.

Like that other travesty of Republicanness, ex-Governor Tom Kean, limousine Liberal and fellow RINO, Senator Martin has learned the secret of success in Jersy - call yourself a Republican and act like a Democrat.
