Cumming Makes a Strong Fashion Statement

Scottish actor Alan Cumming caused a stir when he arrived at Monday's Council Of Fashion Designers Of America (CFDA) Awards - by using his outfit to encourage people to speak out. The X2 star arrived at the glitzy New York show in a purple suit and pink T-shirt. But it was the slogan 'Your Silence Will Not Protect You' emblazoned on his jacket which really caught everybody's eye. Cumming explains of his message, "We're all at this moment told to be quiet and not discuss stuff and let the powers that be decide everything. I think that's wrong. It's a classic-cut suit and all of a sudden, it has this on the back."

That title is going to get attention.
Anyway this business about not being allowed to speak out is awfully handy. You get to imply that your opponents are nasty dissent crushers while not really having to put forward any arguments. And what can anybody do to convince you otherwise other than pretend that everything you say is to be taken very very seriously?
