There is no law against the false assertion of marriage. I cannot call myself a lawyer not just because I am one but because there is a specific law stating that holding yourself out to be a lawyer when you are not one is prohibited by law.

Once again, let me say it more slowly: The issue is not what Reichen and Chip say about themselves--they can call themselves the Brilliant Princes of the Magical Rainbow Wonderland if they want to. The issue here is what CBS represents to the public as matters of fact. Here, CBS is representing that Reichen and Chip are "married," which is simply not true.

As a follow up, if you truly believe there is no law against the false assertion of marriage, try filing a joint tax return with someone who isn't your spouse. Then let me know, and I'll pass that on to the IRS. We'll see if you have any legal consequences.
