One other Fugs recollection: I have some old videos of the Ed Sullivan Show, and after a performance by Steppenwolf, Ed called the band over and asked them who their favorite musicians were. The bass player replied, "The Fugs," and Ed clearly had never heard of them - he still thought the name was "The Frogs" even after the guy repeated "The Fugs" two or three times. It's an amusing little exchange.

I heard a couple of Fugs albums whilst misspending my youth in Big Sur, but never saw them on TV. Another good line comes to mind, which may be theirs: "It can't happen here....because I've been checking it out."

Golly, they are so accomplished with non sequiturs, they could be speech writers for the Rats, and perhaps are.
