Edwards will have to drop out and if he tries to
stay in he will not get above single digits
in any state.
Burr will defeat Edwards.
I would rate this top Republican pick up
even better than South Carolina.

Rep Richard Burr: New GOP gladiator in North Carolina [NRSC]There is little mystery why U.S. Rep. Richard Burr has become the hottest commodity in the North Carolina Republican Party -- the White House's choice for the Senate seat held by Democrat John Edwards. Burr, a 47-year-old Winston-Salem resident, is bright enough to master the intricacies of national health-care policy, funny enough to trade quips with radio host Don Imus, and charming enough to sell his political views the way he once sold microwaves. With the endorsement of party elders ranging from former Sen. Jesse Helms to former Gov. Jim Martin, Burr is making a strong effort to lock up the GOP Senate nomination 20 months before the 2004 election. "I think Richard Burr is a new generation of Republican," said Ed Gillespie, a Republican strategist in Washington who was heavily involved in President Bush's and Sen. Elizabeth Dole's most recent campaigns. "He is a mainstream conservative when it comes to taxes and national security issues. But it is very hard to make him scary to moderates and swing voters and suburban women. He doesn't polarize."
Go, Richard, Go!

Our best bet to defeat incumbent Edwards is Sue Myrick. I just believe Burr has the name recognition.

Myrick ruled out a run around Christmas. Burr will not have major competition in the primary. Where y'all BEEN?

I saw Burr speak to in Greenville [NC] to those interested in his candidacy, and was VERY impressed.
I believe he will be our next US Senator.

Burr will win.

Burr has the slightest hint of Sean Connery about him.
I'm just saying.

The White House has urged Burr to run for the Senate, which he said is a great honor and also an incredible responsibility. "There are expectations that go with it," Burr said. "The White House will not tell you what to do, but they aren't shy about calling and seeing how you are doing."
Read: They won't tell you what to do, but they will slyly suggest that you tow the party line once in office, even if it means selling out your own constituency

I'm just saying. LOL!
That's fine with me; Sean Connery made the absolute best James Bond anyway.

You are nothing if not consistent, sir.
I knew that sentence would be what you picked up on first.
Burr has a 2002 ACU rating of 96 and a lifetime rating of 91.
Not as good as Helms was, but I doubt we'll ever see another one like him.
I'm waiting to see what they will give your favorite Senator next year. :)

Armed Pilots. HR 4635 (Roll Call 288)
2002-07-10
The amendment would allow pilots to be armed in commercial aircraft as deputized federal officers to combat terrorism. ACU supported the amendment, which passed 250-175 on 10 July 2002.
ACU supported this bill.Ah, but he voted against this bill. Now the question is did he vote against the bill because he didn't believe pilots should be armed or did he vote against the bill because he believed pilots shouldn't be armed as federal officials (government intrusion)?
And you're right, we will never see another Helms, and I don't even want to think about what you know who will get on this. Can they rank negative numbers?

I don't know why he voted against that but would like to.
Sue Myrick also voted against.
No, they don't give negatives (LOL) but note Eva Clayton (my former Congresscritter, replaced by Ballance).
She got a big fat GOOSE EGG in '01 and '02.
Plus, she came across as a total moron.
