The governments of Mexico and the United States are launching a new coordinated effort to curb this year's record pace of illegal immigrants dying in the Arizona deserts. Two coordinated border missions, "Operation Desert Safeguard" in the United States and "Operaci

Reduce "Border Crossing Deaths". Eliminate illegal border crossings. It's that simple. If George and Vincente can't figure that out there will be more "Border Crossing Deaths".
I've not heard of anyone dying while crossing the border. They all seem to die while hiding out from law enforcement.

This is looking like a hot and deadly summer. Yes. But I'm not shedding any tears except for children and married females whose husbands forced them to make the trip.

It's already in the 100's here in Central California. It must be baking along the Arizona and New Mexico borders.
Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge is aiming the have drones doing surveilance all along the border by the end of the year.

I also plan to win the lottery by the end of the year. The bulk of the government's drones are currently deployed in another desert region.

Really? So they are going to stop illegals from crossing? Somehow I doubt it.

'Teaming up' with that corruption-bloated rathole on anything is a big mistake. Sleep with dogs, and you'll get fleas.

Unfortunately we do see a large number of women and kids coming through here. I always carry an extra 20 gallons of fresh water, additional food, and a very comprehensive first aid kit. Also a tarp and a couple of tent poles for an instant sun shield.

As word gets out of the increased patrols to the west, traffic will be shifting eastwards towards the San Rafael and San Pedro Valleys. Compared to the "corridor of death", they look like the Garden of Eden.

The new planned operations don't address the causes of illegal immigration and throwing more money and resources at the problem is "a little bit alarming," said Kat Rodriguez, the coordinating officer of Tucson-based Coalicion de Derechos Humanos, a human rights group. One more comment: The 'new planned operations' aren't aimed at addressing the causes of onslaught of invaders from the ditch called Mexico. That's Mexico's problem, not ours. One of the primary functions of our government is to keep pests like this out of here. Fact is that the Mexican government is responsible. Maybe those Derechos Humanos whiners should drag themselves to Mexico and address the problem there, because that's where it originates.

The HSD has contracted to build more drones, and plans to own and deploy them without regard to the armed forces fleet.

Frankly, I don't expect any action of any sort out of the open borders crowd. They will express their concerns and emote their shock and horror at every death, but they will never get off their lazy asses and do anything to actually help these people.
Whether we like it or not, us loco gringo vigilante terrorists are gonna be spending time playing Florence Nightingale. We'll still be turning them in for deportation, but at least they'll be healthy and alive when we do.

To the Mexicans, "reducing border crossing deaths" means that there will be fewer problems sneaking across the border. The arrested several hundred smugglers? That just means that the coyotes who work for Presidente Fox's organization will get more business and charge higher prices. Local advertising just leads to more business for the coyotes.
With these efforts, the number of deaths this year will rise sharply. Not because the efforts are ineffective, but because so many more people will try because they believe it will be safer. Water in the heat will also kill many because the last batch of Mexicans spilled what they didn't use; they had all THEY wanted. And then, Uncle Sugar will get sued again because the safety efforts enticed many more wetbacks to their deaths.

Good luck to them and I hope they find some shortcuts around Federal Acquisition Regulations and a manufacturer who can kick start production. I used to work in the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle programs.

It has been amazing to me how our government (Congress especially) responds to real and present danger after terrorist attacks on our own terrority with the mindless speed of molasses.
