That's a really powerful simile, considering that the Civl War sometimes pit brother against brother. I haven't spoken to some of my closest relations in ten years. You've got "progressive" whites who have succeeded through playing the system, and who bend over backwards to help upper-middle-class blacks, while stepping on their own family members.
