I will never forget when JFK, Jr. died, and Dan Blather was all in tears, endlessly lamenting from the boob tube: "There was once a place called Camelot..."

Dan Rather was shown the Zapruder film in the late '60's.
He immediately demanded and received on-air time to blurt that it showed a forward head snap, thus proving Lee Harvey Oswald fired from the rear.
Dan Rather says Bill Clinton is an honest man.
Dan Rather says many things termed "colorful" although the color always seems to be brown.

I couldn't believe just how much effort the media made to create the same maudlin mass mourning which followed Princess Diana's death. It was mildly amusing to see their attempts at mass manipulation fail, since JFK Jr's death raised not much more public grief than the death of any other personable wealthy young dilletante.
