Gov. Davis Camp Fires Up to Undermine Recall Bid ['Fake' Democrat Petitions Incoming!]
Los Angeles Times ^ | June 2, 2003 | staff report

The California Governors team from the past two elections is working on stratgy to fight the recall petition movement and has hired fundraisers.

Seven months after he won re-election in what could have been the final race of his career, Gov. Grey Davis is mounting yet another statewide campaign-this time to crush a drive by Republicans to recall him from office.

First, the Davis committee is trying to stymie the local CA congressmans petition drive.

To do that, it has hired crews to circulate its own petition, essentially a stack of paper that makes a public statement against the recall but has no legal weight.

Davis supporters acknowledge that it is an agressive-though traditional-tatic to block California ballot measures.

'If these guys want to play Hardball, they had better bring their gloves, because we throw some heat,' said Roger Salazar, a consultant to the Governors campaign committee and a member of the anti-recall strategy team.

This could be lots of fun if the Dims go broke trying to fight this.

IF they "go" broke? They are already broke and indeed billions in the hole. Or, did you mean personally?

Davis may or may not go down in flames. Getting the recall on the ballot is hard enough; but getting him out of office in a state where the dumbocraps can muster 500,000 illegal votes out of nowhere is a huge obstacle.

I think a more important point is that Davis and the dumocraps are being forced to spend big bucks to fight a battle they already spent over $20 million on in the last election. These are bucks that would otherwise have gone to Boxer, or maybe even toward Davis's presidential ambitions.
