The 'funding' to the Boy Scouts should be mentioned. If the United Way pulls out they lose $ 85 mil a year (approx.) The United Way drive to force the BSA to abandon its Supreme Court victory began the day after Lambda Legal Defense Fund (Evan Wolfson, lead counsel) lost its James Dale case. The United Way's posture reflects liberal boards and gay political pull. This is all about the gays, and it's all about access to the boys.

Actually, there is no United Way drive to de-fund Scouting on a national basis. What you are seeing is that UW chapters on an individual basis are editing their anti-discrimination statements to include sexual orientation. The number I've seen recently is that about 50 out of the 1600+ UW chapters in the U.S. have done this and have on that basis decreased or eliminated funding to local Councils. Some have shifted their funding from the Council's traditional programs to their Learning for Life programs. But there's no national drive to do this on the part of UW, it's a reaction of individual UW chapters to pressure from other organizations and people.
