Someone pointed out a while ago that maybe the MPD just have the timeline a bit wrong. It happens.
Maybe she didn't die the previous night. When she was out walking the dog, SP came back, met her while she was out with the dog, after she had been spotted by several people, then she got in the car, a fight ensued inside it, he let the dog out to wander on home, while he disposed of her.
It could have happened that way.
