[history]
The "Sun Kings" flew 82 combat missions over Iraq during a seven-month deployment aboard the aircraft carrier USS Constellation, but their latest mission was far less dangerous.
Twenty pilots and naval flight officers from Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron flew home to Point Mugu Naval Air Weapons Station in Ventura on Saturday.

Isn't this the last ride for the oldest carrier in the Navy?

Huh? USS Kitty Hawk has been in commission longer than the USS Constellation.

I don't know about it being the oldest carrier, but I believe it was the last ride. My husbands cousin in on board.

I believe it is the last ride. Three summers ago, I had the great pleasure to go out on the Connie for a day off the coast of San Diego for 3 hours of flight ops. What a show.

Huh? USS Kitty Hawk has been in commission longer than the USS Constellation.Correct. However, Connie's keel is actually the original keel for Kitty Hawk. A fire during construction caused the swap. So old salts have a fun time with birthdates (keel-laying vs. commissioning).
USS CONSTELLATION is the world's largest conventional powered aircraft carrier. And she was the last ship I served on as part Commander Cruiser-Destroyer Group 1.
This was her last ride.

This was her last ride.Just came across this haunting photo of the Connie sliding silently past Fort Rosecrans National Military Cemetery as she was being towed to Bremerton to be laid up. Photo taken 9/12/2003.
Thought you might enjoy.
