I remember in the '94 elections (I could be wrong) that the USA Today had blurbs on the races nationwide and mentioned this election to show how "progressive" Carrboro was. I always thought it demonstrated how much a Southern town had dropped off the radar screen of rationality and sanity. I'd be interested to know if he was a native or whether he was dropped off the boat with only a pair of legwarmers and a tube of chapstick to his name.
