I was at a shopping mall several years ago. A 5-6 yr. old boy threw a tantrum right in front of me. He was literally laying on his back kicking his feet and shreiking. I'd never seen that before except on TV.
The mother was squatted beside him saying " Now Johnny we shouldn't ...".
I offered her my belt. That did not go over well. :)

My son did that. I considered it entertainment. A crowd would gather and we'd all watch him. Eventually, he got too embarassed to do it.
Crying is good for their little lungs. A tantrum at any age is a bad time to negotiate. I don't have a problem with them wallowing around, screaming like banshees but when they try anything destructive, they get their ass whacked. They've outgrown it now. I rather miss it.

I love it! I will do that next time one of those little brats with a spineless mother crosses my path.

My grandson threw a "fit" in a DQ about a year ago when he was 2. He wouldn't do it at home but whenever I was out in public with him it was open season. Anyway, I'm trying to quietly make him behave. Two older couples were staring at us with obvious displeasure. Finally, I looked at them and said "yall gonna call CPS on me if I spank his butt?" Grins spread on all their faces and one said "we see nothing" and we all started laughing and the baby shut up. (He wasn't the center of attention any more).

About fifteen years ago, An 5-year old kid was ripping toys out of packing @ Kroger in KY...the mother wasn't around, I followed that kid back to his mom, whispered to her what happen...she looked @ the kid, emptied his pockets, pull his pants, gave him a spanking -there on the spot in front of everybody...hopefully the kid mended his ways...if the parents are told...good parents (hopefully) will take remedial action quickly...

That's because if we spank them in public anymore someone calls DFCS and gets them taken away for "abuse"

I sat next to a screaming kid in Wally-Mart and screamed as loud. The "mother" about cried from the attention I drew to her screaming brat. A few adults applauded. The kid shut up.
