I dont know - the way I read this, was that an agreement was formulated between the families through their legal counsel, which would have allowed the Rochas to enter and take items of Lacis that they wanted to have - I also see that Scott was helping make a list of 'sentimental' items that Laci would have wanted her family to have (don't know how true that last part is...).
Then, the Rochas BREAK INTO a home (they set off the alarm, which indicates a unconventional mehtod of entry, to me) and begin removing truckloads of stuff, rather than going by the agreement they signed off on... The Rochas are looking less and less like decent people to me. Morally, maybe they were in the right, but it certainly could have been handled better...
No, the vast majority of alarms are set off when you open the door. You then need to punch in a code within 30 seconds or so to keep the alarm from going off.
So while the may have broken in, I doubt it, because Geragos would have undoubtedly pointed that out. As it seems now, the used a key, but found the alarm code had been changed (it's easy to do).
One can enter normally but not know the code to diable the alarm which could be set off by the door opening or motion detectors.
It is hard to know the real story but consider how you would feel if you were denied entry to retrieve sentimental items belonging to your dead daughter and were afraid they might "disappear" over time as others had free access to the house!
Shame on you for castigating the Rocha's as indecent considering all they have gone through. Shame on you.
