You are correct that there are more important things than money. "A simple life is a good life." My husband grew up here I grew up in Atlanta and have been here 10 years. I have learned more about life in that 10 years than i ever did in Atlanta.
The FBI didn't hardly make into the woods. They had too many problems with the bees and bears. This is not a joke. They called in proffessional bounty hunters and they left after 3 days and said forget it.

I totally believe you. I've camped and vacationed in and around the Nantahalas some, enough to know that if you're conducting a manhunt, it's very tough country indeed. Why am I not surprised that bunch of city-boy FBI agents couldn't hack the hills?

My hope one day is to come back there, look up family, build a non obstrusive house on the side of a mountain (no nothing like those eyesores around Highlands and Cashiers), and live there for the rest of my life

We were living in Asheville and the time and I remember my wife's father stating there was no way they were ever going to catch him. And they didn't. It was a local person. Went out that way once or twice and the way I heard they were traipsing through the woods, I'm not suprised they found anything.

And the FBI guy confirmed my belief. I swear, I can't believe that man stated they were working out a calorie counter. Our tax dollars at work!!!
