What a cynical and irresponsible take on the situation. How about insisting that our law enforcement agencies are certain of their facts before rushing to the microphones?

Irresponsible? That's a little over the top. You just wait for the press conference. They will claim that this catch was the result of all their hard work, when in fact he was caught by a local cop. The local cop is the only one who deserves any praise at all. (And he deserves quite a bit.)
