If I'm right, tho, SCO and MS never had any actual plan to 'win' the case. The whole point of this is to

  1. scare the dilbert 'pointy-haired managers' of the big corps away from Linux with these threat letters and the news/PR/FUD campaign.

  2. Keep this in the courts and the press as long as possible, making wild, vague, doomsday claims as loud and long as the Press will continue to play along and broadcast the FUD for them.

But it's funny, a quick round of calls last night convinced me that this is backfiring, big-time.

It's mainly because of MS paying SCO for the license. Everyone, and I mean *everyone* (even long-time, die-hard MS-only folks) sees that as MS propping up SCO because of the lawsuit, MS attempting to destroy Linux in the courtroom because they can't compete against it in the market.
