Bush tax cut + war on terror, leading to a lowering of terror alert = a rising stock market. Let's hope it keep it up. The Democrats don't have a chance if it stays this way.

The Dems knew this would happen, and they tried to stop it. They're doomed now, and they know it.

The May Chicago Purchasing Mangers index sprinted to 52.2 percent, up from April's 47.6 percent and more than the 49 percent that had been expected by economists. Any mark over the 50 level signals factory expansion. Finally some good manufacturing news at last.
Tom Dasshole is deeply saddened.

Very strange daily chart -- the NASDAQ, SP500 and DOW all lockstep -- flat -- looks like a crew cut hair cut most of the day, after a morning popup.
Cheerleaders are all at their ready marks, I see.

Yeah. Watch for an increase in "news" stories about the "plight" of the homeless. It helps to fill the time that would otherwise be devoted to good news caused by W's performance.

Heard the most hilarious newscast on WABC radio. Talking about the serious drop in consumer sales........01%......followed by the statement that Americans were sooo worried they didn't buy food and clothing.
UUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, really???????????

Since my parents were born there have been three major upheavals in the American worldview: The depression, WWII, and 911. There have been some minor blips, but these changed voting patterns for decades. (Note that decades have not yet elapsed since 911.)
My parents came of age just when the depression hit. They have literally lost millions of dollars over their lifetime by refusing to invest in the stock market.
After WWII it took thirty years to elect a dove, Jimmy Carter. Vietnam, of course, caused a blip in voting patterns, but not a sea change.
911 is in fact, not as destructive as either the depression or WWII, but it is the first major attack on an American city, and it brought with it the promise of further attacks. Politocs will not allow anything like a dove or dove party to assume power until the threat is gone.

Today was very sweet.
Great volume....especially on the NASD....good signs we may be building a new foundation.

I suppose you will say that the huge volume is foolishness too.
There is a lot of parked money with nowhere to go aching for the right signs.
I'll take that momentum and be happy with it.

"plight" I love that word... Its appearance in a headline or the first paragraph is a virtual guarantee that I'm about to read a huge steaming pile of caca del toro.

It's always more fun
to look at the big picture.
Looks like room to grow...

I love that word ["plight"] ... Its appearance in a headline or the first paragraph is a virtual guarantee that I'm about to read a huge steaming pile of caca del toro. Well, what's a journalist supposed to do? They don't understand economics. So they get in there and do those "human interest" stories, the ones that can win them prizes and promotions. The "solution" to the "plight" of the "disadvantaged" and the "underpriveleged" is, of course, more taxation and bureaucracy. It's "compassion" you insensitive cad!. Journalism 101.
