I remember in the 70's how America was "doomed" if we didn't convert to the metric system ... by golly, I still prefer to drive 65 mph rather than 104.65 (roughly) kph ... hehe

Yeah. British subjects were only recently forced to adopt the metric system, in the name of "globalism". It's not highly publicized outside of the country, but the Brits hate the metric system probably more than we do. We dodged a bullet there, I think.
Several years ago I bought some knocked down particleboard cabinets that were made by an outfit called Sturdi-Craft in Klamath Falls Oregon. On the package it stated the weight and dimensional information of the product, in lbs. and inches, of course. The last line of this decriptive info added the statement, "Metric is un-American". Gotta love an outfit like that.
