But an intervention in Rwanda would have prevented the spillover into Zaire with it's round-robin between a dozen or so national armies and even more militias.

Yes they will do something soon, after all this has been going on how long? Koffi Annan is probably busy bribing Nobel committee members to give him the peace prize after he does too little too late in Africa.

Gawd, lets hope the Laci Peterson groupie crowd don't see this one.

I don't know. I will defer to you as you seem to be up on the happenings in that region.

This may not be PC, but I would think a lot of people are thankful they are in the US, and not still in Africa....if you get my gist...

I used to drive to work in the morning and reflect about all the killing and bombing and trouble going on in the world and how removed we felt from it here in America. Then Sept 11 happened.
I don't have a tinfoil hat yet, but a few years ago, I had a dream that people were being rounded up and being thrown in large kettles and killed. Makes me wonder if that could happen here if we don't protect our borders. (any jokes concerning the dream are anticipated!)

From her hiding place in the woods outside the Congolese town of Bunia, Ruta Bonabingi watched as militiamen roasted and then ate the severed arms of her dying daughters. It was the horrifying finale to 48 hours of terror for Ruta and her family. Maybe if Bush sends Africa another $15,000,000,000 in tax payer money, we can get them to eat Big Macs.
Sheesh.......

Thanks- it was a good book. I have it in a storage warehouse (with most of my books). Wasn't sure of the name.

We live in interesting times, a little paranoia helps.

Savages, not even human by any definition other than purely genetic, and then I wonder. Extermination is too good for this offal.

I didn't say Bushmen, I said bushmen, advisedly. But a poor choice of words, as you point out. I should have said, miserable, brutish cannibals, genetically indistinguishable from the lower end of the gene pool in Dorchester or Cleveland Park or Anacostia.
