That's the managing editor's job.
Do you want to go out and legislate that no channel can cover this trial?
That's a far stretch. I don't want to legislate anything. We have more than enough laws already. I want the news editors to do their job and cover news, not prurient voyeuristic sleaze.
No tabloid can be in business?
Who said that? Tabloids have traditionally covered sleazy crime stories. What's new is the block 24-hour coverage on multiple "news" channels on television.
Next thing you know, you'll decide that people can't some in restaurants.
Huh? I don't care if "people some in restaurants" (whatever the heck that is). We're talking about television news.
Smoke in restaurants. You can't make that leap but, duh, I can't make the leap from covering a crime to hard core porn.
Why not be constructive and tell us what government legislation you propose to stop coverage of the Laci trial. Otherwise you're blubbering.
You're apparently not aware that the marketplace prevails ... unless you want to legislate. When there are big $$$ to be made in covering this story, then channels like Fox (the biggest offender in this case) are going to cover the trial. they rack up huge ratings.
Just vote with your remote ... or complain which you do so well.
As I mentioned already, there are new programs out there that don't cover the case at all. Watch those. I do.
