Aircraft From The Carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt Return Home

Click here to view a video report on the return of the Bear Aces flying the E2-C Hawkeye. Many aviators and sailors from the USS Theodore Roosevelt returned home on Wednesday. The airwing from the carrier returned to Naval Station Norfolk and Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach. Four squadrons from Carrier Airwing Eight returned to their homebases Wednesday from a five month deployment aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt in support of "Operation Iraqi Freedom." The "Bear Aces" of Airborne Early Warning Squadron 124 (VAW 124) flying the E - 2C "Hawkeye" returned to Chambers Field at Naval Station Norfolk. Fighter Squadron 213 (VF 213), the "Blacklions", flying the F-14 "Tomcat", and Strike Fighter Squadrons 15 and 87 returned to NAS Oceana. Tuesday, 45 sailors with the C2-A Greyhounds or "CODs" from the USS Theodore Roosevelt returned to Naval Station Norfolk. The Greyhounds are a support squadron...bringing parts and mail to the USS Theodore Roosevelt on a daily basis. The USS Theodore Roosevelt and USS Nassau will return to Norfolk later this week. |
