But the APA's labeling of their conditions as "pathological" fuels social discrimination against them,

And here we have the APA showing it’s true colors. First homosexuality is dropped from the DSM through a rather under whelming vote of 58-42 with over 10,000 psychiatrists in decent because of Spitzer’s “special committee” who was motivated and lobbied by homosexual activists. Now using their same criteria they want do declassify other paraphilic disorders because of “social discrimination”, who’s next the schizophrenic who say’s he’s not ill either? This is completely about politics and gives credence to why the soft sciences aren’t really science.

When a person attempts to create truth leaving out or avoiding reference to God/Absolute Truth, then by default he is automatically placed in the same camp as the APA.

Who elected you arbiter of who can be a conservative? Sharktrager's argument was all the more powerful because it did not invoke any particular set of beliefs. Is it your position that your beliefs about sexuality are so irrational that you will not countenance rational arguments even when they support your position?

My point was that if biology is the only test of what is "normal" sexuality, then one is in a continuum that slides off into APA-land. I was not saying that sharktrager currently believes what they are saying. But it is ultimately a non-defendable position to say that sodomy, or bestiality, or any sick sexual behavior is not normal ONLY because it is not biologically agreeable.

For instance, on NPR the other day there was an interview with a scientist-babe and the interviewer-babe asked breathlessly and excitedly about the large amounts of "gender-bending" and homo activity in the animal and insect world. So any bizarre behavior, if a parallel can be found in the animal realm, can be defended using biology. My point, therefore, is that using ONLY biology as a defense against aberrant sexual behavior is not enough.

My conclusion is of several parts.

Few people in the mental professions are doing serious psychotherapy with the classes of activity they are debating. Hence they are unfamiliar with the maze of conflicts and pathology beneath those activities. That unfamiliarity creates acceptance on superficial levels and arguments.

The people making the arguments are warped to a point where warped conditions in other people are imperceptible to them or do not trigger their threshold of consideration.

I'd think you'd embrace the idea of de-listing pedophilia as a sickness. I certainly do.

Having sex with children will still be illegal, only now you don't have an "It's a mental illness, your honor" defense.

Someone wants to have sex with kids? Fine. But the penalty should be castration.

Yep... the jury's in, you're sick in many different ways. Homosexual pathology has a way of doing that to your mind. " Your children's" problems won't be from pedophiles, even though your pathology is linked to it, it will be growing up in an irrational confusion of right and wrong. Pitty them before you make such a mistake.

Liberals and liberaltarians - anyone who seeks to find the limits of right and wrong using only the human mind as a guide - will ultimately wind up in SF at the APA meeting, or something akin.
I wholeheartedly support those who fight against vicious sexualization of public life using scientific knowledge as a weapon. It has to be done. But to purposely ignore spiritual truth is to turn one's back on the truth that anchors science. I have a good and dear friend who is a long time fighter - and he uses every weapon in the arsenal of truth.
And by spiritual truth I do not mean sectartian truth - Bible, Torah, Vedas - they all agree.

Are you speaking from experience?

Just general knowledge of homosexual pathology as it pertains to personal experience with those who have changed, those who want to change and those who are too committed to proving rational behavior wrong for its own sake. I believe you fit into the later.

And yes, paraphilic disorder does often manifest itself into one or more of its forms, you can find that in various studies and you don’t even have to have homosexual pathology to understand this. One doesn’t need “experience” as a pedophile to “speak” the truth about its pathology.
