Why go through this hassle when you can simply refuse (as I did) to join the NEA. Then you can contribute to charities of your choosing w/out bureacratic paper shuffling.

I guess many still want the protections and benefits offered them through their local teachers' union. The NJEA is the main union for NJ teachers the NEA is an optional union that is national; I think the NJEA is a branch of the NEA; I'm not sure.
