But, but, but I thought things were worse than when Saddam was in control? After all he had the trains running on time.
Geez it's got to be tough to be a bedwetting leftist these days. Just when you think you have an issue to beat Bush over the head with...poof! Gone, fixed, eliminated, no problem. Amazing what action will do as opposed to talk.

Tell you what: I think we did a great job fighting the war, and a lousy job fighting the peace. We should have C-130's flying into Iraq filled with water pumps, emergency generators, pipes for water and natural gas, electrical cabling, medical supplies, etc. and more troops to keep order. I don't think we've done nearly as good a job as we could have, and should have, to restore basic services. This stinks. We're leaving a power vacumn, and Iran is looking to march right in.

The nattering naysayers and nitpickers who complain that we are losing the peace tend to be those who want nothing more than for the US to fall flat on our faces in Iraq. They didn't get the "defeat" they predicted during the war phase, so they're gloom-and-dooming the reconstruction phase, in hopes their naysaying is prophetic.

I suppose if things get too difficult, we can tell the Ba'athists, "Gee, this is harder than we thought! Your countrymen don't seem to appreciate liberation; in fact, they only seem to respond to heavy-handed oppression. So, we're turning the whole mess back over to you. Give Saddam our regrets for any inconvenience we've caused him."

Someone else had used it and it seemed to make sense!
