My cousin had a great career in the Army for 20 years repairing trucks. He has solid auto mechanic skills and is making good money now in the private sector.

We all are trying to make our cars last longer. We all value a good mechanic.

I'd recommend auto mechanics for kids who are inclined to a technical field.

Also, I have another relative who is a mechanic at a car dealership. He's worked constantly since he moved from CA to Pittsburgh PA. In contrast, his brother was laid off from a managerial accounting position (also in the Pittsburgh area) and was out of work for a year, and the only job he could find was Manager at a fast food outlet.

Interesting, since California has 5000 times more car dealerships than Pittsburgh......
