"Sure, so do I. I may detest Barbra Streisand, but I would not wish this on anyone."

Me too. Although I don't detest her, rather, I totally disagree with her liberal views. She does have a great voice!

My best to him.

"That is about the most cold-blooded statement that I have read on this site. You should reconsider your post. Heaven forbid, this was not Streisand, but someone close to you that has to face this terrible disease."

I disagree, your Highness. What if the young gay man was a "Bug Chaser" like the ones profiled in this link; http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/movies/123385_hivfilm24.html

There's similarities with Jason Gould and bug chasers in articles I read about BraBra Steisand's son. Sicko's like this deserve to be quarantined.

Yeah, nothing was mentioned about the fact that sodomy BREEDS AIDS! I do feel sorry for anyone who is physically ill, but this guy and every other homosexual, male or femaile has it coming to them. There is a price for sin, and the price for this particular sin isn't pretty.

How does Barbara feel now about the "evil George Bush" now that he got congress to pass 15 billion for aids? And what did Clinton do? Oh that`s right, nothing. Ask Richard Gere.

There is no way that Ms. Streisand could have penned the screed you posted. It is mostly coherent and is not full of misspelled words so this essay clearly did not emmanate from her desk.

Likely a DNC commissar produced it.

I suppose we will now have BS before Congress blaming the Administration for not stopping her son's destructive life style and risky behavior before it stopped him.

It's all Rick Santorum's fault!

If it were my children in distress, I'd do whatever I had to do to be near them. Here is a woman who can easily afford to purchase a house for her son to live near her, why can she not purchase a place near him....inquiring minds... To think she can hop a jet to vacation with the beautiful people or perform, but not to care for her son...tsk, tsk.

But the flavor of the article sounded like Jason wanted nothing to do with his mother, or her offers of care. Doesn't matter how much she wants to help (it read that it's obvious she does want to take care of him)...he wants no part of it...or her.

Damage has been done in that relationship, a long time ago. I hope it resolves. Life is to damn short.

I lost my best friend to AIDS in 1986. He was a great guy and did not deserve that kind of dying.
We can get angry at Streisand for her vanity and her political foolishness, but there is a time when compassion should transcend politics. Her estranged son has AIDs and I sympathize with her.

Feel sorry for him all you want, but at least do your homework.

Around the time of The Prince of Tides, the tabloids said that you married a male model.

It was a ridiculous story. It was funny in a way.

Where do you think they came up with that?

Oh, I don’t know. These people are ingenious with their imaginations.

Your dad, Elliott Gould, appears as your father in “Inside Out.” Did you ask him to be in it?

I originally asked another actor to be in the part, but he didn’t want to do it.

Was it weird to ask your dad to be in it, because it was autobiographical?

No, my father was happy to do it. I wasn’t even sure I was going to act in it. But I thought that playing the part would be provocative, and I liked that.

How did the film come to be?

Well, I actually began writing it as a feature-length script several years ago. A friend of mine produced a short film, and that inspired me to retool my own movie as a short since I couldn’t find enough feature-length material. It was still a very ambitious short. We shot it in a week, and there were so many actors and so many locations. It was creatively satisfying, but we were filming three to five scenes a day in totally different locations. So it was crazy. We’d have two hours to set up, shoot a scene, and get out.

You could have gone into a number of careers, but you decided to follow in your parents’ footsteps in the entertainment business.

I wouldn’t define myself as an actor or director, because I also write, and not just screenplays but little personal things. They haven’t been published yet, and they may never be, but I do other things too that are not about being in the public eye. I mean, of course, that’s all I know from both sides of my family, and like a lot of people, I’ve tended to follow what I know.

It’s also a seductive industry.

It may be to some people, but to me, it’s not. It’s not seductive at all. I don’t find adulation and fame appealing. I’ve paid a big cost for my parents’ fame. Do you think that your being gay makes it more complicated?

You know, the more I understand my own sexuality the more I…I mean I don’t mind being called gay, because I’m certainly attracted to men. But I also think that it’s limiting. I think that within the gay community—and as a member of the gay community—it’s limiting for us to stereotype ourselves. Attraction is more complex than the terms gay, straight, and bisexual. And I hope that eventually people will evolve into accepting a broader understanding of attraction. (like kids?)

Your mom must have been around gay people her whole life, right?

She certainly worked with gay people. But there were very few gay people around while I was a child.

How did your mom respond to your coming out to her?

I think she would love to have a grandchild, and I think that is probably the greatest disappointment to her. But you know, she may still get one. But I want to get a dog first. [Laughs]

If I saw a hurt cat and a hurt demo-rat on the side of the road, the cat is going to get a ride to the vet. When ever a Demo-rat activist is in pain and sorrow, I smile!

Same Sex Attraction Disorder is a mental illness that stems from dysfunctional family relations. Being attracted to the same sex is merely one of the symptoms and accompanied by many self-loathing behaviors.

This is indeed tragic. Especially since "strictly voluntary" therapy is available. It's the mental illness that leads people to promiscuous and unsafe sexual practices. Then there are the abusive "partners" which are just a continuation of his broken family. AIDS is just another chapter in the consequences and unnecessary suffering of his "gay" lifestyle.

The true agony is in his mind (soul). Our society shouldn't be encouraging a SSAD person to indulge in their made up reality anymore than we would want a schizophrenic to stop taking their medication and indulge in theirs.

Now we should just pray in agreement for a true healing from within.
