This blew my mind. I am nearly speechless with anger. I consider myself a law-abiding citizen with nothing to hide, but now when I get my sausage biscut and coffee I gotta be paranoid the cops will bust me for not wearing my seat belt. So when do they install the webcam in my living room? after all, its got windows and I couldnt reasonably expect ANY PRIVACY whatsoever, right?

So when do they install the webcam in my living room? after all, its got windows and I couldnt reasonably expect ANY PRIVACY whatsoever, right? Get used to it. The next step will be to use surveillance cameras on light poles or other support structures to peer into your car as you're driving along. The UK is at that point now, and we're likely to be there too before long.

?We don?t get involved with those sort of things without consulting counsel,? franchise owner Samir Homsi said. ?Somebody didn?t do the right steps. I?m upset, because I didn?t know anything and they didn?t ask me.? Sounds like Mr. Homsi was experiencing a Mc-Drop-in-Drivethru-Business as a result of all this.
Sounds like there may be some McFirings coming.

to the far extreme the other direction....
A car full of al qaeda (kaida) -whatever- pulls up, order their big macs, when they get to the pay window they toss in a satchel charge blowing up KcD's and all the customers.
The city is now sued because the didn't "protect" the crybabies who sued them in the first instance and made sure they were nowhere near to help.
Now what??
Let's ALL Un-Conceal & Carry - no background checks - no registration. Your try to rob me - I shoot you. JUSTICE!

Just the kind of publicity McDonald's needs to boost sagging profits.

The business angle: McDonald's will now lose customers. Who wants to be served by McNarc?
On the flip side, if a legitimate employee saw illegality in plain sight, I hope they'd call 911.

I'll not get used to anything. I am planning to embroider some lovely seat cushions with absolutely hideous profanity on them so theyll have some reading material.

Sounds like a bigtime Fourth Amendment violation there.

McNarc. LOL
And I agree, yes, If an employee saw drugs or whatever, its their responsibility to call the cops and testify in court or whatever,(if they are truly that concerned about the problem they would be willing to do this) not set up a sting to bust people for seatbelt violations.

the owner of the restaurant at 3645 Cleveland Ave. was never told and neither was the fast-food chains corporate headquarters.
The cops probably coerced the day manager into cooperating with them.

What's next? Undercover cops posing as Jehovah's Witnesses knocking at your door?
To: Moose4
I read a similar thread earlier today about a sting with a camera in a public restroom. The reasoning was, you arent supposed to expect privacy in a public restroom. I certainly dont expect the privacy i have at home, but I dont expect surveillance either. The 4th amendment is being shot to hell.

Weird question. If a cop is a jehovah's witness, should you let him inside? Should you ask the jehovah's witness that question?
That might be a great technique for the cops. Only recruit new cadets from religions that pester you at your door to hand out free literature.

Good, serves them all right. McDonald's is one of the contributing factors in the obesity epidemic in the US and apparently many of their customers are criminals. It ought to be done in every McD's in the country - it serves the fat slob criminals right anyway......../sarcasm
What bothers me most about this, and I hate the whole idea of it, is that a lot of the people screaming about this are probably the same people that voted to allow this to happen in bars and restaurants in Florida without the knowlege or permission of the owenrs when it comes to folks smoking a cigarette.

From this point forward I will stash my bong in the glove box when I hit the drive-thru.

Funny you should mention that. I remember a documentary I saw about twenty years ago about life in the Soviet Union. There was a scene where the cameraman was walking with a couple of police officers who were walking though a park in Moscow. They came across a couple of old ladies who looked like the classic "little old granny ladies" and the cops said "good afternoon, ladies".
The response was not to be believed. The old ladies both started shouting at the cops "What do you want from us? Why are you bothering us? Don't you have some little children to bugger and murder hidden away somewhere? What do you want to steal from us? We don't have anything you would want to steal. Why don't you diseased homo child rapers go off and bugger each other and leave us alone? Burn in Hell you evil bastards"
Seriously, you just would not believe the anger and venom and raw hate that just dripped off of these ladies. The hate came off of them like heat waves off of a frying pan. They looked like they wanted to chew the cops throats out with their false teeth. The cameraman was in shock, as they walked away from the confrontation he asked the cops "what was that all about?" The cops just laughed if off and said that "that was the way everybody spoke to them".
This is the path we are on. How long before little old granny ladies start calling cops child raping murdering theives and screaming hate in their faces? This is what happens when "rule of law" is replaced with "big brother" and "it's for the children".
