I also suspect they picked Sorenstam because she looks good. Cleancut, nice face, pleasant, maybe not the top woman golfer but she is healthy, attractive eye candy.

There are two other un-mentioned Corporations involved here: Calloway Golf and Daimler-Chrysler - sponsors of Ms Sorenstam - expected to cough up the Tiger-like big $$$ for Annika.
George Will expressed an excellent idea on Sunday: The Colonial can attenuate Ms Sorenstam's thunder by inviting the leading woman golfer every year.

Of course it was all about the money.
Like that Advil ad for the the two women who trekked across Antartica.
Big money fo the first woman/bisexual/cross-dresser to do something that was
done by some other human being decades ago.
All part of the rich pageant of American life, no matter how silly it may be.

I fought all week {in vain} to convince the naive and deluded that there was another agenda afoot, beyond just the, "Gee, I just want to test my game at a higher level" ruse which was foisted upon us!
BTW, those who refused to bow at the altar of PC, gender-bending, phoney hype-dom were pilloried and called all manner of nasty names by the warm, gentle, compassionate Annika fans {fans, of course, being short for fanatics}!
