Dearest TEXOKIE,
I have seen the greatest outpouring of gratitude to our troops and patriotism expressed by celebrities in such sweet little ads on FOXNEWS.
I saw our President, such a deeply sincere, sweet soul in prayer four our troops.
This is a Memorial Day that has me deeply inspired to fight every day to keep our country free, to protect our children, and see that they get the correct education, so our heroes will not have died in vain.
God Bless You and amom for these wonderful threads.

PRAYER WARRIOR FIELD TRIPS!!
We have been having some wonderful threads brought to our attention for Prayer Warrior field trips!
In post 37, SAMWolf brought us a story about a young boy scout involved in decorating graves of veterans on Memorial Day. (Bring kleenex!)
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/917946/posts Here is a story which reports the recovery of some Viet Nam era sailor remains. We have been praying for the bringing of knowledge of what happened to the loved ones of those who are MIA from previous conflicts. Could this be another prayer answered? Could this be encouragement that we need to continue? IMHO, I think so.
http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/918502/posts A new freeper who is serving currently in Iraq has written to the forum thanking us for the support we and the nation are giving our troopers. What a joy!

I'm starting to check up on my contributions to the prayer list. I'm happy to note that
~Char and Dale's son Dean came home from Iraq at the end of April! He's fine; his parents mentioned that he was deeply touched by the children of Iraq.
Thank you for your faithful prayers.

PRAYER WARRIOR FIELD TRIPS TO IRAQ!!
1)For a heart warming read, here is an article in which an Iraqi discusses Free Iraq. In it he makes reference to a few articles, one of which was written by an Iraqi poet who expresses gratitude to the allied troops for liberating Iraq.
The FR Thread - No kleenex necessary, just bring your smile!
http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/920937/posts "The familiar voices in Canada, routinely cynical about the United States, have begun vilifying the nature of Iraq's liberation within the less than two months since the fall of Baghdad.
A recent example is Jeffrey Simpson's column in the Globe and Mail Friday, in which he places quotation marks around the word liberation.
Simpson writes, "Iraq is chaotic to the point of street-level anarchy, weapons of mass destruction cannot be found, terrorism is on the rise, and the United States is stuck in Iraq."
Another example of vilification is Michele Landsberg's column of May 11 in the Toronto Star. Landsberg swallows without reservation the most outrageous concoctions of conspiracy theory behind 9/11 that would have us believe rogues in the American government hatched the plot and carried it out against its own innocent citizens.
Such writings, which indicate the sort of polite and insidious anti-Americanism festering in our political realm, feed the imaginings of those who do not know better about our tradition of respectful partnership with our worthy neighbour, and give credence to the politics of those among us who revel in their private and public animus towards the United States...." SNIP
2)The referenced article by the Iraqi poet, from the Wall Street Journal - Kleenex optional.

Let me confess something: I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Saddam Hussein's statue toppled in Baghdad.
I am a poet and know that eyes can, and do, deceive.
For three decades, part of them spent in prison, part in hiding and part in exile, I had often dreamed of an end to the nightmare of the Baathist-fascist regime. But I had never dreamed that the end, that is to say Iraq's liberation, would come the way it did.
Again and again, I watched the footage showing the fall of the statue. It was as if I was afraid it might slip from the realm of my memory. But it was not until my sister, whom I had not seen for years, phoned me from Baghdad that I was convinced that "The Vampire" had fallen and that we were free...." SNIP
3)On another thread, Mark Steyn reports events on his recent visit to Iraq. He skillfully rebuts and lampoons the doom and gloomers' rantings about how dreadful things are in Iraq. It is a joy to have someone with integrity go and see for himself what is happening so that we can get reporting from another perspective. - Bring kleenex, because you may be laughing til you cry!
http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/921029/posts "There's no dysentery or cholera, no sign of a human catastrophe, the roads and medical centres are empty and the countryside charming. Yes, writes Mark Steyn, there's no place like Iraq for a holiday.
I've spent the past couple of weeks on a motoring tour of western and northern Iraq, and I can't recommend it highly enough. The roads are empty except for the occasional burnt-out tank and abandoned Saddamite limo. You can make excellent time, because it will be several months before a deBa'athified Iraqi highway patrol squad is up and running and even longer before they replace the looted radar detectors. On the boring stretches of desert motorway you can liven things up by playing D-I-Y contraflow. And best of all, if you avoid Baghdad and a couple of other major cities, you'll find the charming countryside completely unspoilt by Western reporters insisting that America is "losing the peace".
For most of the Iraq war and its immediate aftermath, it was easy for any relatively rational person to dismiss the media doom-mongering. Hundreds of thousands of dead civilians? Never gonna happen. Hand-to-hand street-fighting as Baghdad morphs into Stalingrad? Dream on. Even that Iraqi National Museum "disaster" was an obvious hoax, though I was sad to see my friends at The Spectator fall for it and add their own peculiar twist that it was all a conspiracy of a sinister US antiquities lobby.
But, when the naysayers started moving on to claim that the whole post-war scene was going disastrously for the Yanks, I honestly didn't know what to make of it..." SNIP
IMHO, our prayers are working, and I see these articles as a sign of encouragement that we must continue!
Our young people are still doing a magnificent job, and yet are still in danger and need the prayer bullets we fire heavenward each day for them. Thank you to all who are continuing the vigil.

An Early Sunday Afternoon Prayer
Beloved God, Our Father,
We are grateful for the love you have given us through our mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, other family members, and our precious friends. We ask that you will take the love of our hearts and return to them a special blessing for all they have given us. We praise you for the glorious time of summer and warmth. We praise you and thank you for the vacations and family time, the cool-aid lunches out on the patio. The trips to movies with friends, family reunions, trips to the lake or seashore or mountains. We thank you for the opportunities we have to live in such a land of peace and prosperity. Father, may it always be so. May those who know not a peaceful family situation be granted the grace of experiencing it somehow according to thy will and timing.
We are grateful still for the service our young people in the military are performing overseas. We are and continue to be grateful for the safe and victorious return of so many of them.
For those who yet remain in harm's way, we ask a special blessing. Grant them clarity of vision and discrimination as to who may or may not be trusted, who may or may not be carrying that hidden grenade. Grant them the grace of quick action in dangerous and life threatening situations. Guide feet and hands during those times so that miracles of bullet and grenade dodging can be performed by your Grace. Give peace and ease of mind to sensative souls who have had to witness and perhaps create some of the ugliness and soul-searing darkness of war. Wrap these souls in the blanket of our love and your caring and healing. Bless all families and loved ones of those who remain in service overseas.
Guide our President and all our leaders in all decisions affecting our military. Guide them in all decisions affecting the fiber and longevity of our Constitution and freedom in this nation.
Heal all wounds in Afghanistan and Iraq. Heal those who have been injured physically. Heal all who have been led astray by lies and hatred. Pierce the Original Liar and His Lie with your Sword of Truth. Bless the children and youth of every nation, but especially of all Islamic nations. Grant these precious ones the opportunity to grow up without being burdened by the longstanding hatreds of too many generations now long passed, heaped upon the present generations. Heal the wounds of false pride, stiff necked hide bound tribal honor, and misguided justice where ever it may be found. Overshadow men of good will and magnanimous hearts throughout the world, in all religious traditions, cultures, races and climates. Place in positions of leadership those who have good hearts for their people. Let your children who practice the Golden Rule in all religions unite their hearts to vanquish those momentums of hatred and small mindedness which plague us in this earthly realm in every nation.
Father, we bow our heads in prayer for the 62 Spanish soldiers who died in Turkey in a plane crash as they were leaving Afghanistan. Bless and comfort their families, loved ones, and nation as they try to cope with such a loss. Extend by thy grace, to all affected by this tragedy, our sincerest love and gratitude for this staunch ally.
We are grateful Father, that you are sending your angels daily to fight the battles of darkness beside us each day. Help us in our own personal battles as we seek to become better vessels for your service. Help us to overcome our tendencies to criticize and condemn, to hate or dislike, to doubt and fear, to be arrogant and deceitful, to be disobedient and stubborn, to be envious and jealous, to indulge in self pity. Help us gain the victory over our temptations to be ungrateful or thoughtless, to be frustrated or anxious, to engage in dishonesty or treachery. Set us free, Father from our selfishness, resentments, and desires for revenge and retaliation. Father, we place all of these temptations on the altar and ask for your abundant mercy to guide us and show us how to remove ourselves from these tar babies which lead us to live lives in strife and not the abundant peace and joy which you desire for us.
Father we place all our faults before you and are grateful and praise you for your Infinite Mercy for the solutions to those faults which you have provided in the person of your Son, Christ Jesus, and in the Laws and Covenants granted to your Covenant Holders.
Please, by your grace and wisdom, adjust this prayer to be aligned according to your divine perfection so that we may not pray amiss in any way. Grant the grace of your blessing upon all who we are responsible for in any way whatsoever, according to thy will.
Amen
