Look at your checks jarheads! They say Navy department on them don't they? LOL!From a bumper sticker at a local gunshow, "Yes, the Marines are a department of the Navy. The men's department." I didn't buy a copy of the bumper sticker. I figured my dad might be offended after serving 27 1/2 years in the Navy. The Commander is proud of his Lance Corporal grandson. As I am.
My son called me from Kuwait last night. Looks like he will be coming home the first week of June. All the gear is loaded up. Just waiting for his turn to hop on the aircraft home. He has learned some vital lessons serving with the Marines in Kuwait. Rescuing his wounded buddies, rushing them off to hospitals, becoming expert at starting IVs.
He returns to his fiancee, a resumption of his degree in astrophysics and a job pouring coffee at Starbucks. It's a happy Memorial Day in our house. All our service members have returned safely from their war time assignments.

civilian proxy reporting that Capt. Dale Dye (USMC, Ret.) is doing an excellent job of
covering military and terrorism affairs on KFI 640AM in Los Angeles each Saturday.
I think he can be heard on the net at the KFI website (www.kfi640.com; Saturdays at
Noon-2PM PACIFIC Time).

Hmmm...is it alright for a dependent to drop in and say "hello?" If not, well, I'll use the following: lol!
MARINE WIVES & MOMS
(And you thought a spouse was a civilian...)
When Daddy's away, I'm the Commanding Officer.
When Daddy's home, I'm the Executive Officer, coordinating and executing actions for the Command Team.
Keeping track of the kids, I'm the S-1.
Collecting the neighborhood news and relaying it to my Marine husband, I'm the S-2.
Making plans for the whole family and training the kids, I'm the S-3.
Stocking food and supplies for the family, I'm the S-4.
I answer all the family correspondence and make appointments for my betrothed; that makes me the Adjutant.
Worrying about the family budget makes me the Comptroller.
Paying the bills, and accounting to my husband for the paychecks makes me Disbursing.
Looking for a new place to live when we move, I'm like Billeting!
Assigning the kids' chores, getting them fed, bathed, and put to bed; I'm their First Sergeant.
Carrying small children, I'm the ammunition handler.
Driving the family to all of our appointments, makes me the duty driver.
Looking like a queen when I'm escorted to USMC functions, like the Ball, I'm a Marine's lady.
Heck, let's just face facts here...I'm really the whole darn Marine Corps!
