"You could always hunt wild boar with a spear."

Well, believe or not, I knew a guy who worked offshore with me that hunted wild boar with a pocketknife .
At night he crawled through the tunnels the boars make in the brush, found the boars by feel and stuck one of 'em in the jugular with the pocketknife, then hauled ass backward to wait for them to bleed out!
He definitely needed suspenders to hold up his testicles!

There was a family who lived near me in the Florida Panhandle who regularly caught wild hogs on the Eglin AFB reservation by the hind legs, took them home and penned them up long enough to get rid of the wild taste and eventually butcher them.

They had a pack of dogs who all had scars from their fights with the hogs.

I once mentioned to a friend in college that when traveling through the Apalachicola national forest, one would just about always see wild hogs.

He told me that when he was in high school, a bunch of boys, on their way home to Paxton, FL from the state track meet in Gainesville had stopped and caught several pigs, took them to school and the FFA raised them and won first prize at the Walton county fair.
