"Saddam is alive, although in questionable mental health."
Then, obviously, nothing has changed.

So you think he's dead? OK then, tell me what the results were on the excavations of the two supposed "decapitation strikes"? We haven't heard a word about them, nothing, zero. Not a word, you would think there would have been round the clock coverage of it once we took Bahgdad, that they would ask at every press conference. Instead, nothing. Were any bodies recovered? Whose bodies?

If I were a poor Iraqi I might be selling these "leads" to credulous reporters...

"...according to a report...Saddam is alive, although in questionable mental health. I guess watching US soldiers having a smoke on the veranda of his palace and using his golden bathrooms pushed ole Saddam over the edge. ~~ LOL ;*D

It's time for the Wall Street Journal's "Opinion Journal" to point the finger at itself by throwing this one in under the banner of "You don't say?" This is only newsworthy across the media radar screen because it's actually a revelation to them that his mental health is questionable.

He's dead, Jim. And he may be floating in the ocean for that matter.

Yeah...it's tough to sell such 'leads' to incredulous reporters. Though I'm not sure there are many of those left....except when they are reporting on what a conservative has to say.

Re the so called 3rd Party sources:

How to detect lies in your newspaper re Anonymous Sources! (USA TODAY OWNER PUBLISHER/23 MAY 2003)
* The anonymous source, if in fact one exists, generally is a coward who tells more than he or she knows.
* The reporter permitted to use such sources often writes more than he or she hears.
*The only sure way to separate fact from fiction is to ban all anonymous sources. If your newspaper uses them, be very, very skeptical.

the "They're still alive!" team is spewing propaganda. So tasty even the WSJ prints it.
