When I posted that around the time of the Columbia going down, I got a week ban by the FR Admin tyrants. No warning, no notification. Just punishment. Nice.

FR Admins can be notoriously thin skinned. When you hit a nerve, they react.

Apparently that one particular nerve has scabbed over.

there needs to be head-rolling at nasa. long overdue.

if a corporation conducted business in the manner of nasa since the 1980s, they'd not be in business.

I think they do a pretty good job considering they work with the lowest bidders.

The news will be that a rescue mission could have been possible using Discovery if astronauts rationed food & water. Repair mission could have be launched later.

I am going to take issue with that. Any time some action is taken, all other moderators have an opportunity to see what happened and to comment and/or question what happened. Further, so does Jim.

And anyone banned or suspended or what can mail Jim and question the action.

It is not feasible to think that close to 10 people plus Jim are all thin skinned.

Do mistakes get made? Certainly- this is not an exact science. But more than 9 times out of 10, when someone says they were treated unfairly, there is a lot more to the story than what they are saying. And I would also estimate that more than 9 times out of 10, when a mistake does get made, the mistake gets corrected.

And I say all this without knowing precisely what the other guy is talking about, but knowing in detail how the system works.

Regards, AM

NASA knew they were dead before re-entry, or suspected as much.

Is it impossible to have another shuttle always ready for a rescue effort if trouble is expected?

People are less expensive I quess.

I think it is wrong to say they work with the lowest bidder.

They work with the lowest bidder that meets the requirements.

The problem, when problems turn up regarding quality, is not with the bidding process. It is with either the system to assure the requirements are met, or with the development of the requirements to begin with.

If there is a good set of requirements, and a good process to ensure compliance with the requirements, then the lowest bid system is optimal.

Yeah, and the Admin Moderator's hide within the group image. We can't tell if it's just one of 'em that's got the parent mentality to go with the thin skin or if its a type of virus that's hit them all.

I've had a couple of semi-humorous politically oriented posts sent to chat within 2 minutes, even though there was no decent breaking news or heavy crowds on FR at the time. Yet somehow, the American Idol Live Thread is allowed to clutter-up the Latest Posts listing for hours on end.

The Admin Moderators don't scare me - some of them are just a bunch of l.......

Nah. Then it would be 'the White House is bracing', not 'NASA is bracing'.

I wonder about the anti humans in space crowd(wimps more like it) would say about this.. Humans don't belong in space. NASA killed more people the Al Qeda. Robots is the way to go. We are scared of new things. We are cowards.

Not informing the crew as to the condition of their craft would have been inexcusable. Or was it possible they were informed and that the decision was made to spike the release to the public at the request of the crew? I guess we might find out?

The videotape that was recovered of the early moments of re-entry gives no suggestion whatsoever that the crew were aware of anything unusual.
