Canada's decision not to join the war in Iraq has been vindicated by the U.S. failure to uncover weapons of mass destruction, Prime Minister Jean Chretien suggested yesterday.

"They didn't find (weapons of mass destruction in Iraq) so far, and we did not participate,

Please stop posting statements by PM Cretien. The man has totally lost his mind. He is completely out of touch with reality. Posting his statements is akin to making fun of the retarded.

He will be out of office in six months anyway.

Come on down to Alabama. We welcome new blood. Just don't bring any educational material with you. It will be impounded at the state line.

What about all of the evidence of genocide that abound in Iraq? Didn't we go into Bosnia on Bill Clinton's watch to stop the genocide?

Too bad mass graves, torture, imprisionment of young children, and rape don't count for much to 'peace-loving' Canadians....

Whatever happened to "Inspections are working; they need more time"? Oh, wait, I guess that counts only when the inspectors are agents of an organization benefitting from corruption of the inspected regime and of itself. I wonder how many of those francs gained from illegal Iraqi oil sales made it to Cretin's pockets.

Good point. Also, there is a well documented connection between Cretin, some family members and French oil TotalFInaElf.

So, you are likely spot on.

I could name a dozen countries with equal or worse human rights records

So could I, but I don't believe that just because evil also exists elsewhere that means we shouldn't confront it in Iraq. Especially when the larger effects of interrupting payments to terrorists or their families, and eliminating our reason to have to protect the Saudis are entered into the mix.

We also had a ring-side seat to observe the United Neuters in full glory, watch their treachery and self-interest dictate their foreign policy decisions. The corruption of the Oil For Food program has been brought into the light.

These are all positive reasons for doing just what we did. Oh, and I believe the WMD are there. Or were, which is a worse thought. Prairie

Next, Chretien will claim he is Napoleon!! Doesn't the socialist medical plan up there cover mental illness, or is he just waiting (yeas) for his appointment?

The madness must be in part a side effect of having a name that looks like a girl's. A "boy maned Sue" moment, non???

I could name a dozen countries with equal or worse human rights records. We invaded Iraq to eliminate its WMD. Failure to find WMD is a problem.

It took the first UNSCOM group over two years to find the evidence they got (see UN website) with lots of informant derived leads.

As for the "why Iraq and not (insert despotic regime here) question: I can only say that every journey begins with but a single step. Most of the countries you might think of usually screw over their own citizens within their own borders, until they collapse of their own weight, and the leaders loot the country and go to live in France. Iraq is a special case, as it controls a large portion of the planet's oil reserves, which we do have to care about since the greenie weenies and their Dem accomplices won't let us go after our own oil. That, and a demostrated willingness to use the WMDs he had, and a deep desire to reclaim the "lost provinces" of Iraq, which Hussein seems to think included most of the Middle East.

Bottom line: we can't go after all of them at once, but a few examples can go a long way towards making other dictators toe the line at minimum. WMDs or not, the humanitarian aspects of the liberation make it all worthwhile.

I'm starting to wonder whether Johnny Cretin has alzheimers or not, the guy is stark raving mad. That said, keeping sticking your foot in it Jean, it'll only piss off the real Canadian voters even more. Once he's pissed us all off entirely, no amount of immigrant voting blocks will save his pathetic party.

Failure to find WMD is a problem.

It's an unfortunate PR problem for America right now. I think if they had tried to sell the war more on stopping human rights violations, and Saddam brutalising his people it wouldn't have been as big an issue. IMO, the U.S. was right to go in, but the PR and it's focus on weapons of mass destruction was all wrong.
