Ex-49er making passes at Condi?

Has love found Condoleezza Rice? Washington is wondering whether National Football League official Gene Washington may have cracked the code to the national security adviser's heart. Washington, a four-time all-pro wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers, seems to have become Rice's regular date at state dinners. On Monday, he escorted her to the White House fete for Philippines President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Back in July, she was on Washington's arm at a dinner for Poland President Aleksander Kwasniewski.
Rice, 48, and Washington, 56, got to know each other at his alma mater, Stanford University, where she served as provost and he was assistant athletic director. Rice's longtime friend Deborah Carson is quoted in "Condi: The Condoleezza Rice Story," by Antonia Felix, as describing Washington as a "long-term boyfriend" of Rice. Mind you, Washington has two daughters - Tiffany, 27, and Kelly, 15 - and a son, Danny, 13. He and his wife, Teresa, are separated.
A spokesman for Washington, who serves as the NFL's director of operations, said that he and Rice "are not dating. They're just great friends."
A source close to Rice, who once said that she dreams of being the NFL commissioner and has always fiercely guarded her privacy, declined to "quantify her personal life" beyond saying that she and Washington are "good friends."
Just impeachy...
Sen. Hillary Clinton promises her new tell-all book, "Living History," will include a painful flashback about the impeachment of her husband, former President Bill Clinton, stemming from the Monica Lewinsky affair.
"The impeachment? Oh, absolutely I wrote about it. Absolutely," Clinton told the Daily News' James Gordon Meek.
Meanwhile, though a deal with Time to publish an excerpt of the memoir isn't finalized, the mag has flown famed photographer Albert Watson from Spain to prep her for her closeup.

Queens logic
Queens Congressman Anthony Weiner may want to work on his technique. The dashing bachelor Democrat recently silenced a room of politicos with a gamy come-on to Rep. Ellen Tauscher (D-Calif.).
Wearing a muscle shirt, the 38-year-old Weiner took the stage at Oregon Rep. Earl Blumenauer's May 7 Comedy Night fund-raiser and did an expletive-laden New York tough-guy routine.
But then he strayed onto the subject of House hotties.
"I wouldn't mind having sex with Ellen Tauscher," he joked. "But I'm afraid that it would be like a praying mantis deal and she'd bite my head off."
One stunned guest told the Capitol Hill newspaper, Roll Call: "It was so completely inappropriate, it was shocking."
The also-single Tauscher, 51, had left the event by the time Weiner made his remarks. But she later quipped, "Let's hope his pickup lines are better than his punch lines."

I hope she's happy--but it's more important that the country be happy than that any individual be happy. In other words, this is only a good thing if Mr. Washington is a worthy beau for her and a man who is suitable in character to be the husband of the first woman president. Sadly, it's possible that for a woman as beautiful and powerful as Condi Rice, there ain't no such animal.

Generally speaking, I think public officials should avoid gratuitious profanity in public situations. That aside, Weiner acting as a "tough guy" would have comedic value in it's own right.

Ms. Rice, if you are lurking on Free Republic, I am a (somewhat) good man who appreciates beauty, brains and a classy lady.

Gene Washington of the 49ers and Gene Washington of the Vikings were both pro-bowl wide receivers for the NFC in 1969 and 1970.
Believe it - or not.

Condi is the greatest catch of the country. She's brilliant, well-educated, filled with common sense and logic, pretty, modest, and funny. I can't think of any other woman in the country who is more President material.
But what man is good enough for her? And does she only want to marry a black man? I'd like to see her happy.

1. I wonder if Gene has ever had to fine himself for unsportsmanlike conduct after one of their dates. (Yeah, I know, I'm a bad man....)
2. Hillary. Who cares? She didn't tell the truth before. Why would she start now?
3. Tony Weiner doing an Andrew "Dice" Clay act at a fundraiser...what in the name of God was he thinking?

What smart wouldn't want a catch like me? I have room for two on my futon. She'd have to like Stouffers lasagna too.
