ABC News anchor Peter Jennings has defended his network's coverage of the war in Iraq after it was strongly rapped by Fox News commentator Bill O'Reilly (a former ABC newsman himself), who charged it was "the most skeptical" of the U.S. led effort. "O'Reilly is not the only person to have decided that," Jennings told the Sacramento Bee on Wednesday. "There are a number of militant conservatives or activist conservatives or whatever you want to call them, who decided that our coverage was liberal and Fox's was accurate. ... I don't quite understand it, because I don't see it in the coverage." Jennings acknowledged that ABC reporters "were not cheerleaders for the war effort. And I don't think anybody at my news organization things of being a cheerleader as being part of our job or mandate."

Wow... I've never been accused of being a militant or an activist before. I didn't realize voting, and occasionally posting on a conservative web site made someone a militant activist.

As for the overall point, i.e. whether Jennings has a liberal bias, any questions?

Didn't you know? Only liberals are allowed to be activists. When they boo and protest a conservative off of a college stage, it is dissent and freedom of speech and tolerance at its finest. When conservatives do it to a liberal, its McCarthyism at its worst.

Is this Canuck a US citizen yet or is he still here on a green card?

"I don't quite understand it, because I don't see it in the coverage." Pretty much proves Bernard Goldberg's thesis right there.

I kinda like the title 'militant activist'. Maybe I'll go by the local military surplus store tommorrow and buy a beret and some combat boots. Then I'll go home, throw out all my art and furniture, and replace it all with cinder blocks, plywood, and posters of Bush, Limbaugh, Buckley, ect, ect.

Is this the same TV show host, Pete Jennings, college drop-out from Canada?

Petah is probably refering to those e-mails and phone calls to ABC about his coverage of the Iraqi war and our military as being a POS and asking him to go back to Canada or better yet france!

Lest we forget ... Jennings is the network anchor who derided Americans for throwing a snit on election night November 1994 (Clinton's first midterm) and handing congress back to the Republicans for the first time in over 40 years.

I don't quite understand it, because I don't see it in the coverage." I am sure they have an intellectually diverse and politically diverse new room. I am suprised that some of the conservatives who work with Peter did not point it out for him.

I was forced to watch the first few days of the war on ABC. Their coverage had me checking for Iraqi soldiers in my back yard every few minuites, and I live in the mountains of Colorado.
According to what I heard on ABC, the Iraqi Army had obviously overrun the US forces and were invading our shores. It was only a matter of time before I and my family would be killed by them.
When my satellite dish arrived, I switched to Fox, and was stunned to learn we were winning the war!
To: Paul Atreides
Jennings hates the US and President Bush so much that he can't possibly report any news accurately. He's got as much credibility as the NYT.
