Truths are eternal when seen in certain lights. In those days the Age of Capitalism was running rampant and the diamonds and gold were actual diamonds and gold. Those days are gone. I can't agree with your perspective that when he was talking about diamonds and gold he was talking about diamonds and gold, since he gave examples of men building businesses selling bonnets, for example.
