Just stated Birkshire Hathaway does not pay dividends. Just said his holders would then want dividends!

bassing buffet. Now I'm hungry for seafood! :-)

Buffett seems to believe the zero sum game of wealth. There is only one pie not that we can make more and bigger pies.

aaaaaa, nutmeg.
I was trying to get the thread up quick given the recent comments.

Don't matter, the tax package is a done deal. Warren needs to go and sale all that he has, give to the ppor, and follow Jesus Christ. If he does that, he will get an eternal reward so great, he couldn't match it if he was a billionaire over a million lifetimes, on thousands of planets, across multiple universes.

Warren says that none of his money is hidden in tax shelters???
Why am I having a hard time believing that?

You are correct. Another problem for firms like his is that ownership of individual companies (stocks) rather than funds may become more attractive when dividends are offered and will decrease the value of his holdings accordingly. This also makes companies report directly to the stockholders in ways that relate to the bottom line and not in financial speak. It limits, when a company is expected to pay a dividend, playing with the numbers. I suspect Wall Street players don't like that aspect at all.

class warfare resurection attempt.
this is an effort on his part to stop his holders from demanding dividents. Microsoft recently succumed to overide its no divident policy.
I have lost much respect for buffet here. This is nothing more that DNC talking points.

Niteline only has Buffet on because he's bashing BUSH's tax cuts - that all!! Does that mean Ted won't ask Warren what he thinks of Kerry's healthcare plan??

he uses accounting tricks which are not labeled "tax shelters"
To: Mo1
not a chance. Now we talk about deficit spending.
I never knew buffet was such a rabid democrat. How did this guy consistently stay so up on the wealth meter? Geico, Dairy Queen are all his holding company's.
To: longtermmemmory
He doesn't have too much cash money and doesn't get paid that much. His wealth is in the stock. He's lived in the same house for 40 years and is a flamining lefty. He's leaving billions to keep abortion legal for women.

I have read his stuff even considered buying his class B shares, he only looks brilliant by his slow and steady because he stays his course. He is also famous for saying he did not loose in 89 because he did not sell.
To: longtermmemmory
he uses accounting tricks which are not labeled "tax shelters" Call them any name you want .. it's still a way to hid taxes from being paid to the Government ..
