I DO have my facts straight. A Dr. McDougall who debated
Dr. Atkins frequently spoke at a seminar I attended last
summer. He stated that Dr. Atkins had a very serious
heart attack. We expose ourselves to all sorts of infections
the more meat we eat. I don't advocate a vegetarian diet,
but it would be best if we all could eat organically grown
meats, poultry, wild salmon, country eggs. Ideally, but I
can't always obtain that ideal. Digestion of too much
protein is hard on our kidneys due to the overproduction of
uric acid. Witness my husband's recurrent gout due to an
insistence on meat at absolutely every meal and lots of it.
I believe Dr. Atkins himself commented on his bypass surgery
in a t.v. interview? Of course, it wasn't broadcast all the
over the place. You should do what you consider is best for
you, as should we all.

That would be a lie because he did not have bypass surgery. His doctor reported that his arteries were perfect. He had a viral infection as a result of a trip overseas.
