The correct spelling would be "Sockdologer." There is the famous line (famous because it was Booth's chosen cue for the shooting) in "Our American Cousin," about a "sockdologizing mantrap." The word is meant to be a comical corruption of "doxologizing." Since one of the root words is "logos," it's clear that the name "Sockdologer" should be spelled with an "o."

If nothing is clear, then is it clearly nothing?
And is "log" the root of "logarithm" (birth control for a Catholic lumberjack)?
