It doesn't matter what she is; it matters whether what she testifies is the truth.On this, we agree. She seems primed to do just that and I think her sorrow for Laci's family is sincere.
I hope it is, as it appears, her strong desire to help the prosecution with some compelling facts.
I also believe that Geragos won't be foolish enough to do a Faye Resnick on Amber. I think that would backfire, big time.

Surely they'll have a judge who can keep control, and keep it from becoming the trial of Amber Frey. There's only so much of Amber's past that would be relevant to this murder prosecution. And as you say, Geragos may put his foot in it if he tries to attack her.
Amber shows genuine-looking nervousness at times. It's likely she'll appear that way on the witness stand. If Geragos gets her crying, or shames her in a big way, while cross-examining her, he's dead meat.
