I posted this article on my website...

This is the response I got from my resident socialist/communist...

(snip)
Now see it is very easy to look back on history and conjure up conspiracies. I think people need to remember that FDR was fighting Facism. That he had to make the descision as to who was the bigger threat, Stalin or Hitler. He chose Hitler. Was he right or wrong? One cannot say but I have a feeling that Hitler was the bigger threat at the time.

As for McCarthy this is a touchy area. Were some of the people McCarthy went after Communist? Yes. But where all them? No! I think Joe McCarthy got carried away with himself. And he ruined a lot of peoples lives. Was the communist spy a threat to our country in the 1950s? Yes. But so was Joe McCarthy. I am sorry I do not want to live in a country where I can be damned for having socialist leanings and that was what that committee turned into.

And as for Nixon...Well there was someone who was never too concerned with the constitution if it didnt fit his agenda.

I understand this board is meant to promote discussion but I do think you should carefully consider the articles you post. One of the biggest cultural issues (in my mind) is the revisioning of history. There are people out there writing articles about how the Holocaust was a hoax...How FDR knew or worse cooperated in Pearl Harbor...

I cant help but feel this article is bording on that disturbing trend.(/snip)

....I just wanted to beat my head against the wall...

Can you name a person who was wrongfully harmed by McCarthy?
