Rep. McCarthy’s staff morale hits bottom
The Hill ^ | May 20, 2003 | Betsy Rothstein

Morale in Rep. Karen McCarthy’s (D-Mo.) office has reached an all-time low following her return from an alcohol treatment program.

Staff members, many of whom have been recipients of her abuse, are coming to the conclusion that the situation is impossible and their only option may be to quit.

McCarthy recently hired Democratic consultant Peter Fenn for $25,000 to help sort out the turmoil following her admission that she is an alcoholic.

Fenn denied information given to The Hill that he had told McCarthy’s staff they should consider getting new jobs, and added: “Karen is making tremendous progress in beating the disease of alcoholism. From what I can tell, she’s not drinking. I’m trying to help the staff. I’m trying to help Karen through a very difficult time.”

McCarthy recently took a month-long leave from Congress and checked herself into an Arizona rehabilitation facility to deal with a long-time drinking problem.

She's a stone-cold drunk.

She hates guns.

Any questions?

Among several sources of staff members’ discomfort is McCarthy’s requirement that they stand in a circle in her office and recite the Serenity Prayer.

I wonder if she then made them shake their arms up and down and scream "KEEP COMING BACK IT WORKS!!"?

“Karen is making tremendous progress in beating the disease of alcoholism. From what I can tell, she’s not drinking"

"And if I do catch her drinking", Fenn continued, "I'll just slam the toilet seat on her head."

She obviously needs to practice playing the victim card a little more.

Here are some tactics that work well with libs:
"I was abused as a child."
"I have been hiding my sexuality from myself. In my heart, I believe that I am really a lesbian cross-dresser."
"I started drinking when I realized that nobody really cares about the pollution and what it is doing to the environment."
"I was riddled with guilt because I used to date an SUV salesman."
If she came out with the right sob story, her staff should be eating out of her hand.

At first, I thought it was Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY). Different lady. I feel for anybody who has an alcohol, drug or gambling addiction. Is she a big anti-gunner in MO?

MIssouri seems to have more than its fair share of politicians who get in trouble because of being drunks.....both sides of the aisle get caught on a regular basis.

McCarthy's face looks lit up like a Christmas tree. Maybe if I bump this thread some democRAT in her district might see it. Then again, they're all into the kool-aid, so it won't make a difference anyway.

This falls into the category of material you couldn't put in a novel because it is TOO absurd.

One further thought - like so many of the Left, she projects her own pathologies onto the rest of us. She transleates her self=hatred and self-punishment into lip-curling contempt and punishment for the rest of us. Put enough power into the hands of people like that, and you've got a recipe for atrocity and mass murder. History makes my case.

Good to see you around...

This gal was married to the "LAWYER" Benson who represented the Kansas City Missouri School District, of Judge "I can raise your taxes by decree" Clark fame.

The billion dollar rip-off of supposed de-segregation where they would put 5 year olds on buses at 5:30 a.m., bus them across the city to keep "diversity", you know, "for the children".

Yeah, how come the press attacks Bill Bennett's gambling habit and not this b#tch's drinking problem?

Never mind!
