My opinion regarding the Palestinian settlement is similar to the Zionist idea, yet I am not a Zionist and I have never liked the zeal of the Zionists. The way I see it is Jordan is a much bigger country with a majority Palestinians. Call it Palestine, allow any Palestinian who wish to relocate to emigrate there with a one time settlement fund from Israel. The rest of the Palestinians in the Israeli proper will forever be known as Israeli citizens-not Arabs, and not Palestinians! Gaza should be given back to Egypt as an Egyptian territory. Its citizens become Egyptian citizens. If the Palestinians in Gaza chose not to become Egyptians, then they can take settlement funds from Israel and relocate to Palestine in the West bank or Jordan. The King of Jordan should continue as the king of Palestine, and he should appoint a constitutional government of mostly Palestinians. Voila; Israel neighbors are immediately all friends, and Israel should return the Golan Heights to Syria to defuse any problem with Syria or Lebanon.
This idea is too easy, but the Arabs would never accept it. They are still dreaming of the day all the Jews of Israel are shipped back to Europe.
I don't think retiring to his homeland is in the cards, despite the fine beaches in Gaza he likes it here.
Interesting he should pick the time of Homer, since the Iliad and the Odyssey and their publication on papyrus and dispersal around Athens and beyond marked the real beginnings of western civilization and indeed all of modern civilization.
